RIYADH, 3 October 2006 — Al-Faisaliah Hotel made it two in a row by beating Pepsi and Le Gourmet while Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City (SBAHC) were not to be outdone with victories against Herfy and SMS, while SABB routed Saudi Media System and Pepsi in the Inter-Company (Bonafide) Basketball Fever in Riyadh Tournament 2006 dubbed Herfy Challenge Cup at the Sheraton Riyadh Hotel & Towers rubberized court here.

Al-Faisaliah and SBAHC both posted their 3rd straight wins. Al-Faisaliah anchored by rookie Nestor Nulud, Jayson Lopera, Jimmy Sevilla, Tony Astrologo, Eugene Cuyong and the towering Kenyan Annas AbdulFattah overpowered Pepsi 87-72, followed by an 84-77 thrashing of Le Gourmet, who saw Raffy Dalisay’s 46 big points put to naught.

SBAHC led by Ritchie Hadlocon, Rommel Pangan, Magiting Ciriacruz, Michael de Asis and Alex Pineda downed Herfy 72-58 and SMS 82-67 in succession.

Rejuvenated SABB led by silent achiever Onil Fernandez, Gernie Moneva, J. Quinto, Rommel Abarca and Manny Cas made their winning debut at the expense of SMS, 78-75 and followed that up with an 86-76 triumph over Pepsi. Fernandez was the topscorer with 30 and 33 big points in the two games.

The organizing committee led by Carlos D. Ollero is to donate part of the league’s proceeds to the UNICEF fund. Herfy Fastfood is the main sponsor of this league, with Magic Cream of Joey Mallari and Arab News as co-sponsors. With Ollero in the executive committee and table officials are Jess Lumanog, Joy Maglapit, Lito Unidad, Jeffrey Rodriguez, Marvin Tengson, Jezreel Tabisora, Jobert Baga, Robert Caser, Arnel Esguerra, Muhammad Mamunuzzaman, Muktar and Rene delos Reyes. Chito Solis is the play-by-play announcer while the FCBR (Filipino Confederation of Basketball Referees) officiate the games.
