JEDDAH, 1 November 2006 — Saudi Director Ali Al-Amir is ready to release his new movie “Tiflat Al-Sama” (The Girl of the Sky), which tells the story of a young girl who having been physically abused by her father is found dead in front of a hospital. A release date was not given.
The movie is said to shed light on the aggressive behavior of the father not only toward his daughter but also his wife, who he murders in the movie. The story is narrated by the young girl.
Jeddah Actors Blame Saudi TV for Talent Drain
JEDDAH, 1 November 2006 — Saudi actor Abdullah Al-Yami recently spoke to the Al-Watan daily about the “deplorable” situation of Jeddah’s actors, who according to him were not being given many chances to appear in on television by Saudi television.
Al-Yami also said, “We are ridiculed by other Gulf actors after the problems that arose between Tash Ma Tash and Tash Al-Asli.”
Actor Omar Al-Jaser said, “There are seven production companies in Jeddah and they have all provided different scripts to Saudi television, which have yet to be approved.” Al-Jaser added that Jeddawi actors were of the caliber of starring in other Gulf productions.
