RAMADAN nights were nights of glamour at the 7th annual Magic Carpet Ramadan Festival that took place last week. The luxury of the annual event made the four-night gala feel like 1,001 Arabian nights. Thousands of women might have well been riding into the Jeddah’s Hilton Hall on real magic carpets considering the glamour and good will that permeated the event.

The hall was bedecked with exhibition booths displaying traditional dresses, appliquéd and stylish abayas, jewelry, and apparel accessories. Diamonds and precious stones were shining with the latest en vogue designs.

The booth of Jida Interior Designing and Event Management Company welcomes attendees with a fully furnished salon decorated with velvet and Oriental and Ottoman splendor. There were candles that looked like modern lamps and cushions that were decorated with sparkly golden lamé and silver strings.

Foreign visitors of the exhibition were also able to take souvenirs from the Land of the Two Holy Mosques back to their countries. One of the booths responded to the need of souvenirs shops and was selling T-shirts that have symbols of the Kingdom. Some T-shirts had the initials KSA while others had pictures of a man wearing an Arabian costume. Stuffed camels were suitable for children who wish to show their friends the traditional atmosphere of Saudi Arabia.

“The Saudi Souvenirs Shop will launch by the end of this month in Roshana Mall in Tahlia Street,” said the Director Abeer Majid Al-Saud.

Pink & Blue shop had a booth for designing children’s rooms. It had posters and tableaus in pink and blue that suits boys and girls. Some tableaus can be customized and the name of the child can be written in the middle of paintings and colorful drawings. Others have the Qur’anic verses.
