DAMMAM, 10 October 2006 — The Saudi singer of Islamic songs, Muhammad Al-Jebali, has left for Dubai to participate in the second round of a contest organized by the Sama Dubai channel. He hopes to win the title for the best singer of Islamic songs.
Al-Jebali qualified for the second round of the Sama Al-Inshad program in which 18 young singers participated in the preliminary rounds. He is already a popular singer of Islamic songs in the Kingdom where he had participated in various festivals.
The Dubai channel has been airing the monthlong contest at 10 p.m. since the first night of Ramadan. Viewers have flooded the program with SMS messages in support of the only Saudi contestant. The three judges are leading singers from the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain, Al-Watan reported yesterday.
