DAMMAM, 12 October 2006 — Saudi actor Sameer Al-Nasser will play the hero in the upcoming play “Azma Wa Taaddi” (“Overcoming the Crisis”), which was written and directed by Ibrahim Al-Jabar.
“The play will be presented at the Najd Schools Theater over the first three days of Eid as part of Riyadh Municipality’s Eid festivals,” Al-Nasser told the Al-Watan daily yesterday.
The cast includes Abdul Bagi Bakhit, Suleiman Al-Zobail, Khaled Al-Aboudi and Khaled Al-Beshr.
Al-Nasser said that Saudi theater needs more support, as society is not aware of the importance of theater productions.
He added that theater productions play a considerable role in bringing people’s attention to various social issues.
Arab television channels have opened up more opportunities for play actors, which has adversely affected their participations in less-profitable stage acting, Al-Nasser noted.
