3 Caught Stealing From Building Site

DAMMAM, 14 October 2006 — Police arrested three Asian workers for stealing sand and stone from a construction site in Alkhobar, Al-Madinah reported yesterday, quoting Col. Yousuf Al-Qahtani, spokesman of the Eastern Province police department. He said police also found 10 stolen vehicles in Dammam, Alkhobar and Ahsa. “We have also arrested a wanted person in Dammam,” he added.

Four-Train Collision Under Investigation

JEDDAH — The Saudi Railway Organization has set up a committee to investigate the collision of four locomotives at an intersection of rail lines in Dammam on Wednesday. The committee will present its report to SRO chief Khaled Yahya. The investigation, according to sources, would focus on the person who gave the green signal to two locomotives to get out from a nearby workshop while two goods trains were crossing the intersection. Nobody was injured in the accident.

Three Killed in Joy-Riding Spree

MADINAH — Three young Saudis died and two others were injured when the SUV in which they were joyriding lost control, Al-Watan reported yesterday. The vehicle, which was running at a speed of more than 140 kilometers an hour, hit a concrete barrier before overturning. The three Saudis died on the spot. The injured were taken to hospital.
