BHOPAL, 14 October 2006 — President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has said that society can prosper only through education. He called for equal stress on research activities adding that continuous research would improve quality of education and induction of moral education would make the students worthy citizens.
Dr. Kalam was addressing the 21st convocation ceremony of Rani Durgawati University at Jabalpur on Thursday.
Madhya Pradesh Governor Dr. Balram Jakhar; Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Ishwardas Rohani and the chairman of the UGC Prof. Shukdev Thorat were present on the occasion.
The president said that Madhya Pradesh has a number of rivers including Narmada. There is need to create a water course network by connecting them. This would also help promote tourism. He stressed the need for encouraging floriculture in Madhya Pradesh.
He said that there are airports at Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Khajuraho. Taking advantage of the air force network fresh flowers could be exported to almost every corner of the world in a big way from here.
