CAIRO, 16 October 2006 — A number of actors have turned to script writing for cinema, plays or television. Among them is Ahmad Eid who wrote the script and screenplay for his current movie “I Am Not with Them”, according to the Al-Watan Arabic daily. After his major role in the movie “The Night Baghdad Fell,” he turned to trying his hand at writing because of his dissatisfaction with offers made to him. Actor Kamal Al-Shinawi, is also currently writing a script and scenario for a TV series dealing with the lives of the elderly and the problems they face with their children or in old peoples’ home.
Actress Sumaya Al-Ulfi is also currently writing a script for the cinema — for which the title has not been decided upon. The same applies to actress Maali Zayed regarding a new movie. Salah Al-Saadani is currently completing a play that he is writing. It will deal with the current state of Arab affairs. It will be finished after the broadcasting of the series “Harat Al-Zaaferani” (Saffron Neighborhood) that is currently being shown on satellite TV.
