JEDDAH, 23 October 2006 — Frustrated with the quality of pictures that you have taken? Perplexed that people in the pictures you took have red eyes? Are your digital shots being rejected by a print shop because they are “lowres?”
If you have similar questions and have not found any satisfactory answers, try the Cameraderie, a growing organization of professional and amateur photographers in the Kingdom.
On Nov. 10, the newly formed Cameraderie Club of Jeddah will hold a seminar on basic digital photography and the event is open to anyone interested in learning.
Florante “Ranz” Ramos, spokesman of the group, said the seminar will be held at the Pearl of the Orient International School (POIS), from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Ramos said a team of lecturers from the Cameraderie Club of Riyadh will share their expertise during the seminar.
The team is composed of Gerico A. Canlapan, a commercial photographer and head of the Cameraderie Club of Riyadh; Derek Cabañero, an art director; and Chris Sevillas, an architect and Adobe Photoshop expert.
Participants would be taught, among others, how digital cameras work, the kinds of digital cameras, resolution, color depth, lenses, exposure, camera flash, transferring photos to a computer, and editing and enhancing images using picture editing programs.
Participants are encouraged to bring their digital cameras, although it’s not a requirement.
Ramos said participants would be accepted on a first come, first-served basis, depending on the venue capacity.
