RIYADH, 15 November 2006 — Al-Zamil Group announced yesterday that it had signed an agreement with Chemutra Corporation to jointly build a world-scale metal-alkyl-manufacturing facility at the Jubail Industrial City.
The Chemutra-Al-Zamil joint venture would license Chemutra’s proprietary technology to serve as the sales and marketing arm of Chemutra’s aluminum alkyl in the Kingdom and other Gulf countries. Both the Al-Zamil Group and Chemutra have been operating as partners in several manufacturing facilities since the year 2000. Chemutra Corporation’s sales in 2005 amounted to $3.9 billion in specialty chemicals, crop protection and home care products. Commenting on the signing of the deal to study the new joint venture project in Jubail, Osamah Al-Zamil from the Al-Zamil Group said the new project would be an extension to the already existing projects by the group in the industrial city.
