DUBAI, 17 November 2006 — Dubai Healthcare City and Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research in collaboration with Dubai Press Club yesterday launched the “Science Writer Fellowship Program” with the aim of raising the standard of journalism in the region on health and science issues.
Three journalists from the UAE will be selected for the program. Candidates will be invited by Harvard Medical School to participate in a five-day training program in Boston.
Noora Al-Abbar, Marketing and Communications manager in Tatweer said: “The fellowship program will allow selected intern writers to interview leading Harvard Medical School officials and HMS affiliated researchers, and visit Harvard Medical School affiliated hospitals. Through their interaction with Boston-based science writers, trainees will explore the process of reporting scientific research material in an engaging style to increase readership in the Middle East.”
