JEDDAH, 17 November 2006 — K.N. Abdullah Moulavi, a prominent Islamic scholar in Kerala and consultative council member of the Jamaat-e-Islami, passed away at MIMS Hospital in Calicut yesterday. He was 72. He was chairman of the College of Qur’an in Kuttiadi and trust member of the Islamic University in Shantapuram. As an Islamic activist, Abdullah worked for strengthening Muslim unity in the state and remove misconceptions about Islam among Muslims and non-Muslims. Jamal Muhammad, a Malayalee community leader in Jeddah, said Abdullah’s demise was a big loss to Muslims in Kerala.
