JEDDAH, 19 November 2006 — Saudi Arabia’s fencing team left for Egypt for a 10-day training camp in preparations for the upcoming 2006 Asian Games in Doha from Dec. 1-15. The team is captained by Omar Abu. The other fencers belong to Al-Huda club in the Eastern Province. They are, Foad Al-Nasiri, Akeel Al-Dawoud, Zakariya Al-Dawoud and Abdullah Al-Hilyo.
9th Congress of AFSM Starts Today
The three-day 9th Congress of the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine-AFSM 2006 starts today in Riyadh under the patronage of Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, president of General Presidency of Youth Welfare and the Saudi Football Federation. The opening ceremony is set for 7: 30 p.m. at the conference hall of the King Fahd Cultural Center.
Saudi Special Needs Team Win 22 Medals
The Saudi Special Needs team returned home on Thursday with 22 medals from the 5th Zaid Al-Khair Tournament in Dubai. The team won ten gold medals, seven silver medals and five bronze medals. They participated in football, basketball, table tennis, swimming and athletic events.
