MADINAH, 21 November 2006 — The Madinah branch of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice is holding a training course for its members. This follows a course held last week for the heads of the commission’s branches across the Kingdom.
Delivering a lecture on “Moral Security and Ways to Achieve It,” Sanad ibn Lafi Al-Shamani, assistant undersecretary at the Madinah governor’s office, underscored the role of the commission in achieving security in all its senses with special emphasis on the moral side. He further emphasized the need for evolving effective methods to counter the negative influence of the media on the social and moral life of the people.
Speaking on the relevance of punishments in maintaining morality, Sanad said, “Meting out religiously specified punishment in correct manner and at proper time had a vital role in achieving the target.”
The course aims at improving the professional skills of the commission’s field staff, said director general of the commission’s Madinah branch Suleiman Al-Tuweijri. The four-day course will end today.
