RIYADH, 21 November 2006 — The two-day workshop of the Saudi IPO Summit 2006 which was canceled on Sunday will now be held in Dubai during the first week of December, it was announced yesterday.
The Dubai based-IIR Middle East for Conferences, Exhibitions and Training, had planned a two-day summit at the Faisaliah Hotel for Sunday and yesterday. The summit was to begin with a workshop on the first day and be followed by the summit on Monday.
“The sponsors have decided to hold this summit two weeks later at the Madinat Al-Jumeirah in Dubai,” Jehad Kamal from Shamal Marketing Communications (SMC), which is organizing the conference, told Arab News yesterday.
A large number of local and foreign participants who came for the Saudi IPO workshop returned home disappointed Sunday when they were told that the event was canceled on the orders of the Ministry of Trade and Commerce. He said that the summit could not be held due to administrative problems.
“Over 400 industry professionals were registered for the Saudi IPO Summit 2006, and we would send out invitations again to all the participants,” Kamal said, pointing out that the program will remain the same, while the speakers at the ceremonial sessions may vary according to their convenience.
