DUBAI, 27 November 2006 — The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has lined up a series of events from Dec. 1 to 3 to celebrate the 35th National Day of the United Arab Emirates.
The events will be held at the Heritage Village in Al-Shindagha and Creek Park from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Sheikha Ebrahim Al-Mutawa, chairperson of National Day Committee at the DTCM, said 15 major events would take place at the Heritage Village.
A major attraction of the celebration will be the preparation of the biggest dish of lukaimat (fried balls of dough with syrup) with the help of 300 chefs drawn from different nationalities.
Bab Al-Shams Desert Resort will be preparing a huge cake featuring the Union Square in Dubai where the national flag was hoisted to mark the formation of the UAE on Dec. 2, 1971.
Fifty women students will stage an operetta on Zayed Generation. In addition to 5,000 giveaways, 35,000 roses will be distributed among visitors. Children will have the opportunity to show their creativity through paintings.
