JEDDAH, 27 November 2006 — The Al-Khalidiah Stable of Assistant Defense and Aviation Minister for Military Affairs Prince Khalid ibn Sultan dominated by winning four categories in the 9th International Arabian Horses competition in Cairo, Egypt. For the second time, Al-Khalidiah won the award as the best equine farm in the Middle East for 2006. Al-Khalidiah has had a chock-full of awards from similar contests in Dubai, Sharjah, UAE, Austria, Belgium, Britain, St. Tropez, France, Germany and Sweden.
Saudi Flag-Raising Ceremony in Doha
JEDDAH, 27 November 2006 — The Saudi flag-raising ceremony will be held at the Asian Games Sport Village in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. The Kingdom delegation to the 15th Asian Games from Dec. 1 to 15 comprised 250 athletes and officials. Prince Nawwaf ibn Mohammed, deputy president at the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee’s executive committee and deputy president of the Saudi contingent has approved the names of the 150 athletes seeing action in the quadrennial competition.
Sports Medicine Conference in Riyadh
JEDDAH, 27 November 2006 — The 3rd Olympic Solidarity Tournament Conference for Sports Medicine opened in Riyadh yesterday. Organized by the Saudi Sports Medicine Federation under the patronage of Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, president of both the GPYW and SAOC, and hosted by Riyadh the four-day conference will end on Wednesday. Prince Sultan, meantime, congratulated and gave members of the Saudi weightlifting and bodybuilding team financial rewards for clinching the championship title in the 14th Arabian Championship in Oman.
Training Course for Special Needs Refs
JEDDAH, 27 November 2006 — The Saudi Sport Federation for Special Needs has teamed up with the Youth Welfare office in the Eastern Province for a 10 days training course in Riyadh for Saudis interested to become referees for the special needs matches. The course, which opened on Saturday, is open to all Saudis ranging in age from 20 to 30, with a degree from a sport college or experience as an athlete.
Judo and Taekwondo Team Cited
JEDDAH, 27 November 2006 — Prince Nawwaf ibn Faisal, deputy president at General Presidency of Youth Welfare and Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, lauded the Saudi Judo and Taekwondo national youth team for winning a gold and silver medal at the Arabian Championship held in Santa, Yemen recently.
Prince Nawwaf also cited Al-Hilal Club and Hiraa Club’s taekwondo players for winning gold and bronze medals at the International Taekwondo Championship for clubs held here.
