BAHA, 29 November 2006 — Stories of older Saudi men taking on a younger second (or third or fourth) wife are fairly common, but this time it seems an older single man has won the hand of a woman who is one-fourth his age, the local Arabic media reported. The 80-year-old man managed to find a 20-year-old bride after having been previously married (and divorced) numerous times. The wedding was attended by members of three generations of the man’s family, many of them much closer to the age of the young woman.

MAKKAH, 29 November 2006 — Makkah police answered a domestic dispute call, namely for a man who had been locked out of his home by his angry wife, according to local Arabic media reports. Police managed to handle the dispute successfully, and the woman finally relented and let her husband into the house. Unfortunately, the media reports didn’t say exactly what caused the husband’s exile, but it must have been interesting.
