RIYADH, 3 December 2006 — A Saudi woman noticed her name on a store sign indicating that she was the owner. When she looked into this odd situation, she noticed that, unbeknownst to her, she was the proud owner of a number of Riyadh retail stores. According to a report in yesterday’s Okaz newspaper, the woman’s ex-husband never bothered to remove her name from his family identification card, effectively giving him power of attorney to open a number of shops in his ex-wife’s name. The woman filed a lawsuit and is currently not only trying to get her husband to stop using her name, but to take control of the stores since, from a legal standpoint, she’s a woman open for business!
Pregnant Woman Has Odd Food Craving
DAMMAM, 3 December 2006 — A woman who became pregnant for the first time in 13 years had her own unique craving: She wanted one of those TV-dinner-style hospital meals. The daily Okaz reported yesterday that her dutiful husband decided to satisfy her appetite for what many might consider a less-than-appetizing meal. He went to a local hospital and asked the commissary staff for a hospital dinner. The kitchen staff refused his request, but, after approaching the director of the hospital, the husband’s search turned out not to be in vain: Not only did he get two meals for his wife, but was also provided a room inside the hospital for the woman to satisfy this most bizarre pregnancy-related craving.
