RIYADH — Music lovers are invited to a musical extravaganza at the Philippine Embassy tonight.
Dubbed “Musikahan ‘06,” the show, which is free of charge, is a tribute of the Asosasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (APM) to the Filipino community in the capital city.
The event will start at 6 p.m., with Michelle Martinez as host.
“This is in line with APM’s activities following the success of its Pinoy Song Festival Songwriting Contest last August,” said Jeffrey Almendras, APM founding chairman who will also be the musical director of the event.
Almendras urged community members not to miss the show because a good number of Pinoys will be participating to show case their talents.
APM is a nonprofit, independent professional organization organized to help develop musical talents from among community members not just to sing but also perform onstage. “We hope to do this by providing continuing voice enhancement workshops, elimination of stage fright and character buildup,” Almendras explained.
The show is sponsored by Pepsi, Pinoy Supermarket, DCF Cargo Forwarders, Kabayani Express, Hero Door-to-Door Network, Cameraderie and The Filipino Channel (TFC).
The Opus Range Band and Rithmo Band will perform featuring Ryan Comandante, Roy Barquillas, and Kervin Sawyer, one of the Pinoy Song Festival grand finalists.
Also in the list of performers are Richard Balgos, Lowelyn Tolentino, Neribe Doloricon, Mariel Joy Chua, Stephen Fuentes, Kenneth Sawyer, Reynaldo Nalaza, Malik Mariano and Rodel dela Peña. Most of the performers are “products” of past singing competitions in Riyadh, including the LG Pop Star Quest and TFC Pop Star. Roger Esquivias will play the piano.
