JEDDAH, 9 December 2006 — Former Haj Minister Abdul Wahab Abdul Wasie died yesterday at the age of 78, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The death took place abroad and his body will be flown in to Jeddah today.
Al-Wasie held various posts in the government, including assistant director of budget at the Finance Ministry, deputy minister of education, before becoming Haj minister in 1975. After preliminary education in Jeddah and Makkah, Wasie obtained a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Cairo University.
