TAIF, 12 December 2006 — The Accomplishment and Development Coalition won the Taif Chamber of Commerce election, according to the results presented by chamber officials late Sunday night. The winners of the election are: Saleh Ali Al-Ghamdi, Abdul Rahman Al-Otaibi, Abdullah Al-Otaibi, and Naif Al-Odwani, Abdul Kareem Al-Salmi, Eid Al-Swat, Luaie Ganita and Mohammed Al-Tabash.
“We did our best to win this election, but every group did their best to win the election. They are our brothers and colleagues aiming to enhance the economy in this city,” said Abdul Aziz Turdi, a well-known local businessman from the opposition Development and Correction Coalition.
Al-Odwani, head of Accomplishment and Development said: “I thank God for this success and it came with the help of our faithful voters. The members of the group did great efforts to reach this result.”
Another member from the same group, Al-Swat, said: “We have many plans and we will announce them soon. The objectives and the plans written in the pamphlets will be implemented and we will add more plans and targets to serve our city better.”
Ahmed Al-Obaikan, from the losing side, said: “In every election there are winners and losers. We congratulate the winning group and we will give them full support in their job. I think the first task they should tackle is finding a new location for the chamber. It is located currently in a very crowded street and there is not enough parking. Also, they should find a solution for the management problems.”
Ahmed Al-Amoudi said: “Taif’s interest is our concern whether we win or lose the election. We all have to serve Taif in order to become the first city in Saudi Arabia. This is a mission and, they should observe it in their work. We will work hard together to enhance the economy in Taif. I will come to the chamber as a businessman for consultations.”
