RIYADH, 12 December 2006 — For the first time in the Kingdom, Mobily has launched an international MMS with Qatar (Qtel), Egypt (Vodafone), Bahrain (Batelco), Malaysia (Maxis) and Luxemburg (Vox), which enables its subscribers to send multimedia messages to these countries from Mobily network in the Kingdom. Earlier, Mobily launched the roaming MMS for its subscribers in more than 50 countries with around 90 mobile operators worldwide. While roaming, the subscribers can also send MMS to other countries or back to the Kingdom.
Mobily was also the first Saudi mobile operator to launch MMS last year when it launched its services alongside with more than 15 new added-value services, launched for the first time in the Kingdom, such as located base services (LBS), roaming for prepaid SIM cards, missed call notifications messaging for prepaid SIM cards, GPRS EDGE, etc.
MMS enables subscribers to send pictures, video clips, audio files, and even emails. Mobily plans to sign agreements with more international mobile operators to provide the international MMS while roaming or while in the Kingdom. The international MMS agreements will include operators in Kuwait, the Philippines, Jordan, Morocco, Lebanon, etc.
