JEDDAH, 19 December 2006 — A Saudi man began noticing that money was disappearing from his house, the daily Okaz reported yesterday. The odd thing was that whoever was stealing his money was only taking small amounts of it. One day, he decided not to go to work. Later that morning he met his neighbor... inside his apartment. It was then he remembered that he had given his neighbor his house keys months ago while repairs were being done. The thief then decided to begin a parasitic relationship with his neighbor by occasionally entering the flat and “borrowing” some cash.

Joy Riding Shabab Master of 3 Wheels

RAS TANNURAH, 19 December 2006 — “Shabab” means “youth” in Arabic, but in Saudi Arabia it is often used to refer specifically to those listless, privileged youngsters that speed around like maniacs in cars bought by their daddies, from under whose wings of financial support they may never emerge. The daily Al-Yaum reported yesterday that one of these joy riding shababs managed to escape from several squad cars that tried to stop him for a litany of traffic violations. During the four-hour pursuit, the young man blew out one tire, but he still managed to drive onward on three wheels. Eventually they cornered the guy in an alley, but he managed to escape on foot.
