MAKKAH, 21 December 2006 — A Haj guide drew the ire of a driver and a group of pilgrims because of an attitude problem and incompetence in giving directions, the daily Al-Nadwa reported yesterday. The guide met the pilgrims at Jeddah’s Haj Terminal to take them by chartered bus to Makkah. The pilgrims said the man was rude, but what really caused a ruckus was when the guide “accidentally” gave the driver directions to his home, instead of the hotel where the pilgrims were staying. When the driver and the pilgrims realized the man had fooled the driver into dropping him off at home first, the driver slapped him and forced him to remain on the bus. When the group finally got to the hotel, the driver kicked the man to the curb and told him to take a taxi home.
