JEDDAH, 26 December 2006 — The Indian Consulate yesterday became the first Haj Mission in Saudi Arabia to get the ISO certification, and it is also the first Indian mission abroad, which has received this certification.
The EN ISO 9001-2000 Certification was presented yesterday in Makkah by Afzal Sheikh, representative of the ISO in Jeddah to India’s Consul General Ausaf Sayeed. Consul Haj Suhel Ajaz Khan and Zaki Hariri, in charge of Indian pilgrims in South Asian Moassassa were also present during the ceremony.
The certificate says QMSCERT, an accredited provider of 3rd party certification organization for ISO-9001, acting in accordance with the requirements of ISO guide 62/EN 45012 for registrars, attest that “the Consulate General of India, Jeddah — Haj Section with a scope of provision of administrative, medical and logistic arrangements for the benefit of the Haj pilgrims coming from India on the Haj pilgrimage by the Haj Section, Consulate General of India, Jeddah and Indian Haj and Medical Missions at Makkah and Madinah Al-Munnawarah, has established a quality management system that is in confirmation with the International management system standard EN ISO 9001-2000.”
The consul general thanked his entire team and said, “We are proud to get the first recipient of this prestigious certificate. The entire consulate staff always work tirelessly to make Haj smooth and trouble-free for Indian pilgrims and this certificate will give them further boost to serve the guests of Allah.”
Consul Haj and other staff were also very happy and thanked the ISO certification body in Saudi Arabia for conferring the certificate on the Indian Haj mission. “We are happy to get this certificate of excellence given for higher quality standard,” said Suhel.
