ASIR, 5 January 2007 — An education official in the southwestern Asir region died as a result of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, the daily Al-Riyadh reported yesterday. The man was cleaning his gun while it was loaded. He was taken to a nearby hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
Woman Pilgrim Commits Suicide
MAKKAH, 5 January 2007 — A Moroccan woman performing Haj reportedly committed suicide by throwing herself from the seventh floor of a building in the holy city, the daily Al-Watan reported yesterday. Police have ruled out foul play and attribute the death to the woman’s mental state.
