JEDDAH, 18 January 2007 — Prince Nawaf ibn Faisal, deputy-president at the Saudi Youth Welfare had approved recently the plan submitted by the Saudi Arabian Anti-Doping Committee to increase the anti-doping awareness programs for athletes, administrators and all who joins the national teams during their participations abroad.
In addition to distributing free anti-doping booklets, CD and video on the process of the anti-doping testing to all Saudi federations, clubs, local media, GCC and Arab countries football federations, and to all who want to benefit from it.
Mobily Tennis Tourney for Clubs
The two-day Mobily Tennis Championship for Clubs ended at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran for youth under the age of 18 on Sunday. First place went to Al-Ibtisam club, while Al-Safa club clinched 2nd place and Al-Qadisiya 3rd place.
In Al-Ahsaa, Al-Jeil club won 1st place, Al-Nojoum 2nd and Al-Tarf claimed 3rd. According to General Secretary at the Saudi Tennis Federation Rasheid Abu Rasheid the winners will qualify to play at the Kingdom Champions’ finals for the teams events.
Emirates Officers Gaining Experience
The Supreme Organizing Committee for the Championship had sent its Emirates officers and security guards during the World Cup in Germany last year and even recently to Doha during the 15th Asian Games to gain experience on how to deal with fans at the stadiums. It’s is, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat daily, a way as the Emirates puts it to develop a modern image for the Emirate officers that all the Gulf fans who attend can acknowledge afterward.
Free Tickets to All 18th Gulf Cup Matches
As a generous gesture from the President of Emirates Sheikh Khalifa ibn Zayed Al-Nahayan, all spectators will attend the matches at the 18th Gulf Cup for free. The first match started yesterday (Wednesday) at 7:30 p.m. in KSA time after the opening Ceremony that began at 6:30 p.m. at Zayed Sport City.
Ahli on Top of Group C

JEDDAH — The Jeddah-based Al-Ahli club secured the game’s three points against Al-Taie of Hail after winning match (3-0) at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium here yesterday. Haykal Gamamdeya, Saud Al-Khaybari and Caio scored the goals for Ahli. With this victory, Ahli go on top of Group-C with 13 points. Ahli’s match with Al-Shabab on Jan. 24 will decide the qualifier of the semifinals. Matches will resume on Thursday with Nasr playing against Al-Faisali in Riyadh, Wehda against Ittihad in Makkah and Ittifaq against Khaleej in Dammam.
