NAJRAN, 23 January 2007 — A young man was called from the first night after his wedding by worried relatives that said a wedding party was lost in the desert, the daily Al-Watan reported yesterday. The friends of the new groom had headed out into the Empty Quarter — the world’s largest unbroken expanse of sand — to take a short cut back home to their village. Late that night, the family of one of the men called the groom to ask for help finding the group. The young man dutifully formed a search party and found the group at around 9 a.m. the following morning. The group had lost its way in a sandstorm and then their car broke down.
