RIYADH, 25 January 2007 — Indian Minister for Steel, Chemicals and Fertilizers Ram Vilas Paswan, who is also the chairman of Dalit & Minorities International Forum (DMIF), arrived here yesterday on a three-day visit to the Kingdom. Paswan, who is expected to attend a few receptions in the city, will meet members of the Indian community tomorrow after the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Indian Embassy.
“The visit of Paswan, though private, signifies the progressively growing relations between the Kingdom and India,” said Indian Ambassador M. O. H. Farook here yesterday, while giving a brief of the minister’s program. He will be the chief guest at the Sir Syed Day celebrations at the local Crown Plaza Hotel today. Sir Syed Day is celebrated by the old alumni of India’s famous Aligarh Muslim University every year. The Sir Syed Day celebrations are being organized by the Riyadh-based Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association.
