RIYADH, 30 January 2007 — The Kingdom will host a conference titled “Arab Child Health” in the capital on Feb. 24-26, the Ministry of Health announced yesterday.
“This conference will review the experiences of the Arab countries on the steps taken for the improvement of the health of the Arab children during the past five years. It also hopes to chalk out a program for their welfare for the next five years,” Ridah Mohammed Khaleel, an official from the Ministry of Health, told newsmen here.
Childcare specialists from member countries of the Arab League and representatives from government and non-governmental organizations from the region will participate in the three-day forum.
Discussions would focus on national health policies and the delegates would try to formulate a regional policy for better health among the Arab children.
Among the topics that will be taken for discussions include: mental health, infant mortality rate, terminal diseases, social problems faced by the Arab children, nutrition for pregnant mothers and children and rehabilitation programs for disabled children.
