Mini-box.com, a subsidiary of Ituner Networks has launched the VoomPC-2 family of low power, high performance car PCs. Based on the small form factor Mini-ITX platform and with an integrated battery management unit, the VoomPC family is suited for navigation, productivity and entertainment. The unit is equipped with an intelligent power supply that eliminates battery drain and prevents damage from unwanted power surges.
The VoomPC-2 is an industry standard X86 computer that runs Linux or Windows, enabling easy integration of non-proprietary telematics and other applications. The feature-packed Mini-ITX motherboard sports a 1.5Ghz VIA C7 processor, rich I/O such as VGA, S-Video, USB2.0, Firewire, Ethernet, PCMCIA Type I and Type II CardBus interface for GPRS/WIFI/ and smart 5+1 channels audio. The VoomPC-2 has been tested to work in extreme temperatures as high as 55 degrees Celsius. The VoomPC-2 is now shipping with the barebones version starting at $399.

The site is among the first to apply “Web 2.0” principles of social media, mass collaboration and user-generated content to genealogy.
