SRINAGAR, 31 January 2007 — The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to probe two more mysterious disappearances which could be linked to fake encounters following this weeks unearthing of an embarrassing case wherein a local carpenter had been allegedly killed as a foreign militant.
The state government has already set up a special investigating team (SIT) headed by the deputy inspector general of police, Central Kashmir Range, Farooq Ahmed, to probe the disappearance of Abdul Rahman Paddar, a south Kashmir carpenter whose disappearance is being linked to a fake encounter carried out by the state police here on Dec. 9, 2006.
The team of forensic experts from National Forensic Laboratory, Chandigarh is expected to arrive here today to help the DNA sampling of the body of the so-called foreign militant killed in north Kashmir area last month.
