JEDDAH, 6 February 2007 — Dr. Muhammad Badahdah, who has been appointed new assistant secretary-general of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth for the Makkah region, said he would work to strengthen the organization by launching innovative programs to enhance Islamic awareness of Muslim youth within Saudi Arabia and abroad.
Badahdah, a consultant surgeon at the King Fahd Hospital, has a vision and well-thought-out plans to take WAMY to new heights of progress, matching with the hopes and aspirations of the Ummah.
He highlighted WAMY’s achievements during the last three decades as a pioneering organization that takes care of Muslim youth, providing them with proper guidance. “We have to make use of modern technology and know-how to develop our activities and achieve perfection,” he told managers of different departments.
Apart from his career as a medical doctor, Badahdah has held a number of posts including the director of the Jeddah office of Makkah Charitable Foundation, supervisor of health affairs at International Islamic Relief Organization, chairman of IIRO Committee for Yemen, founder of Muslim House in Glasgow and founder of Muslim Doctors Forum at WAMY.
Badahdah, who replaces Abdul Wahab Noorwali, was elected to the new post by WAMY’s general assembly, which met in Cairo last November. The meeting reelected Saleh Al-Asheikh chairman of the organization, Dr. Abdullah Omar Naseef deputy chairman, and Dr. Saleh Al-Wohaiby secretary-general. It also named the assistant secretaries general for its offices and 23-member board of trustees.
The new assistant secretary-general has already visited different departments of WAMY’s office in Jeddah to learn about their activities and difficulties. He will support Wohaiby in various organizational matters, especially in finance and regional affairs.
