RIYADH, 9 February 2007 — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah will present the King Faisal International Prize for Service to Islam to Mintimer Shaimev, the president of Tatarstan, at a palace ceremony here on Sunday.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who will arrive in the Kingdom on Sunday at the start of a three-day regional tour, will attend the event.
Shaimev was awarded the prize in recognition of his tireless efforts to revive Islamic culture, rebuild mosques and promote Islamic teachings in the Republic of Tatarstan.
