RIYADH, 11 February 2007 — Nearly 200 participants, including 160 students, received merit certificates from Sri Lankan Ambassador A.M.J. Sadiq on Friday after completing a four-month course in basic life support and first aid, public speaking and art and craft. “Education in any discipline is to be welcomed and it helps us stay ahead of the technological advancements and changes of the present time,” said Sadiq after distributing the awards to the participants at a ceremony at the Sri Lankan International School.
He described education as the greatest asset parents could give their children.
He commended the Sri Lankan Expatriates Society (SLES) in Riyadh, which hosted this event, for providing extracurricular education to Sri Lankan students.
“I wish the SLES would organize more activities like this,” said the ambassador.
