ABU DHABI, 19 August 2007 — Salah Salem ibn Omeir Al-Shamsi, chairman and managing director of Al-Qudra Holding, was ranked the 50th most influential figure in the region in a special report entitled “The 100 Most Powerful Arabs in 2007” issued by the Arabian Business Magazine.
The special report encompasses iconic figures from various fields including businessmen, writers, singers, actors, film directors, artists, scientists, breaking medical boundaries, etc.
“Al-Shamsi is one of the most respected businessmen in the region and is currently engaged in directing a wide range of companies as well as representing governmental entities and supporting social and sports clubs,” said the report.
Regarding Al-Qudra Holding, the report mentioned that it “is a private holding investment company and the first company in the region to dedicate more than 50 percent of its shares to Emirati women as a response to the directive of Sheikha Fatma.”
It added, “The company has capitalized on the industrial boom in the UAE and prompted the growth of the city by generating a large group of specialized subsidiaries operating in various sectors all under Al-Qudra Holding umbrella.”
Al-Shamsi obtained his BSc in Civil Engineering from North Carolina University and MBA from the American University in Sharjah. The exceptional academic knowledge, which Al-Shamsi garnered over the years, gave him the business acumen needed to stay ahead.
At present, Al-Shamsi is the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the Gulf region as well as for Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates. He is also a member of the board of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, a member of the board of the Abu Dhabi Economic Development, on the honorary board of Al-Ain Sports Club and the chairman and managing director of Al-Qudra Holding.
