RIYADH, 22 August 2007 — Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), discussed investment opportunities in Costa Rica during his two-day official visit to the country recently.

Arriving in San Jose, capital of the country, on Aug. 11, he also discussed the Kingdom’s bilateral relations with Costa Rica and a number of social and economic issues pertaining to both countries.

He held talks with President Oscar Arias Sanchez, who expressed gratitude for Alwaleed’s visit. In a press conference at the Presidential Palace, it was disclosed that Alwaleed’s investments in Costa Rica were reviewed, including his stake in the Four Seasons Resort at Peninsula Papagayo — considered one of the best in Central and South Americas.

The resort has 153 rooms, in addition to residences and private estates with higher proportion of public space overlooking two distinctive beaches, making it a prime destination for thousands of tourists annually.

Costa Rica is located in Central America bordering the Caribbean Sea to the east and the North Pacific Ocean to the west, with a coastline on the Caribbean. The country is comprised of seven provinces. Recently, electronics, pharmaceuticals, financial outsourcing, software development, and ecotourism have become the prime industries of the country. With an annual $1.7 billion tourism industry, Costa Rica stands as the most visited nation in the region.
