MAKKAH, 23 August 2007 — Asir police have arrested a 27-year-old man who was on the run following a murder in an apartment in Makkah.
“Makkah police contacted Asir police and told them that there was a man on the run and wanted in relation to the murder of another man in Makkah. We told them that he could possibly be hiding in a village in the Asir province,” said Maj. Abdul Muhsin Al-Mayman, Makkah police spokesman.
“The man was arrested at 5 a.m. on Monday. Police also found a gun thought to have been used in the murder,” Al-Mayman said, adding that the gun was unlicensed.
“The man was hiding in a room in his father’s house. Police had to negotiate his surrender. It took a lot of convincing before the man agreed to give himself up,” said Al-Mayman.
