DUBAI, 27 August 2007 — Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai (MEHD), the first overseas branch of the esteemed 200-year old Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, hosted 35 UAE-based ophthalmologists for a training seminar. The event was the first of a monthly series of talks for ophthalmic practitioners. Participants received training credit for their attendance, in line with the Ministry of Health’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) program — a government mandate aimed to promote further training for practitioners in the healthcare industry and consequently provide patients with safer healthcare standards. MEHD’s CEO and medical director, Dr. Chris Canning, spoke on new medical treatments for vascular eye disease, and specialist surgeon Dr. Edmondo Borasio spoke on the principles of measuring eyes accurately prior to cataract surgery.
