RIYADH, 3 September 2007 — Officers of the Elite International School (EIS) Supreme Student Council for school year 2007-2008 were inducted into office by Ambassador Antonio Villamor recently.
The executive officers are Cyndy P. Dela Cruz, president; Olive Joy V. Panlilio, vice president; Aida Meleen E. Trambulo, secretary; Erika Kaye V. Cetro, treasurer; Mark Y. Fulgencio, auditor; Deborah Garce F. Binalla and Dennis Lazobert D. Castro, press relations officer.
Inducted as councilors for the elementary grades were Kylvyn P. Dela Cruz, Francis Adrian F. Lezada, Daphnie Morales, Anna Reema R. Itum, Darwin Tumambing, Paulyn Ganzon, Precious Stefenie Rojas and Kathlyn Guia.
For high school, the councilors are Patricia A. Reyes, John Kristoffer Herrera, Emma Grace Y. Espinosa, Chantal Gayle Obaldo, Nonato Dhanemel E. Trambulo, Daryll Tumambing, Anthony Sese and Sharmaine Acuna.
Sworn in as representatives were Mary Joy Carandang (Grade 3), Omar Mandeeli (Grade 4), Alec Jeush Cabasco (Grade 5), Mary Jade Hofilena (Grade 6), Daniel Espinosa (Grade 7), Mac Deib G. Borbon (Grade 8), John Jerson Negal (Grade 9) and Gregory A. Cusio (Grade 10).
The council’s advisers are Herwin Gatdula and Hernan Aguila.
In a news release, the council listed assistance to distressed Filipinos and environmental awareness as one of its key objectives for the year, in addition to promotion of camaraderie, discipline and leadership.
In fulfillment of the slogan “An Elitean is a person for others,” the council aims to “extend help unfortunate Filipinos and distressed OFWs.”
To do that, the council will conduct outreach activities, including “participation in Bantay Bata projects” and “visits to the Bahay Kalinga during the holiday season to provide help and entertainment to kababayans.”
Bantay Bata 163 is a social welfare project of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp., which helps children in the Philippines who are victims of abuse.
Bahay Kalinga is the shelter maintained by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Riyadh for distressed OFWs, mostly runaway maids, and dependents of OFWs.
To carry out their slogan “Kalat Ko, Pulot Ko (My litter is my responsibility),” the council will lead in the segregation of empty soft drink cans to be sold to shops. Money earned from that project would be added to donations for beneficiaries of the school.
