JEDDAH, 5 September 2007 — The Saudi Canadian Mining Services, with a vast experience in drilling, blasting, hauling, excavation and surveying works, has mobilized major capital equipment worth SR50 million to Az Zabirah North Zone Kaolin & Bauxite Project for the execution of a 5-year contract, which it recently signed with Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden). According to the contract, the mining and transportation of Kaolin & Bauxite are for industrial usages.
Saudi Canadian Mining Services, under the chairmanship of Prince Faisal ibn Mugrin ibn Abdul Aziz and under the supervision of A. Gulaid, president & CEO, has provided multi-disciplinary services to the Saudi Arabian mining industry since 1995.
Gulaid said that the company had already completed the required reverse circulation drilling work and it has started mining and transportation of runoff mine Bauxite and Kaolin.
The Jeddah-based Saudi Canadian was selected by Maaden to do the Bauxite Trial Mining at Az Zabirah Bauxite Project to establish the parameters for the future large-scale mining operation and to collect the bulk samples for metallurgical test works.

Gulaid said that Saudi Canadian has already set up a functional camp at the Qiba town employing the maximum possible Saudi nationals from that area and has also made contracts with local suppliers to supply to company’s project needs benefiting the local Saudi nationals. He added, “Saudi Canadian Mining Services implements the Saudization program to the maximum possible to ensure that Saudi nationals get the full benefits from the fast growing mining industry of the Kingdom.”
Saudi Canadian Vice President of Operations, Business Development & Contracts Anwar Husain said the company has obtained the ISO 9000 2000 Certificate which certifies the quality and competence of the company.
Husain said Saudi Canadian Mining Services will also be participating at the International Exhibition for Mineral Exploration & Applications (MENA EX 2008), which will be taking place from Jan. 22-25, 2008, at the Jeddah International Convention Center under the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Saudi Geological Survey.
