JEDDAH, 9 September 2007 — Pakistanis paid rich tributes to the brave martyrs who sacrificed lives to save their country during Indian aggression on Sept. 6, 1965.
The function was organized under the aegis of Pakistan Repatriation Council.
Speakers reminded the gathering of the significance of the day and pledged to work unitedly to make Pakistan a prosperous and strong nation. Those who spoke included community leader Gulab Khan, Secretary- General Pakistan Journalists Forum Jamil Rathore, Abu Farhan Siddiqui of Muslim Welfare and Development Organization and Syed Mahtab Ahmed of Urdu Markaz. PRC Convener Ehsanul Haque thanked every body for making the function successful.
The program started with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Qari Abdul Majeed and was conducted by PRC General Secretary Naseem Sehar. Local poets Gule Anwar, Zamurrad Khan Saifi, Naseem Sehar and Saifullah Hasrat recited their poems on the occasion.
The PRC also adopted resolutions on the plight of stranded Pakistanis in Bangladesh and welcomed the Bangladesh government’s move to offer citizenship to some of them, while urging President Pervez Musharraf to fulfill his commitment on the repatriation of stranded Pakistanis. They also called for activating the Rabita Trust.
