JEDDAH, 9 September 2007 — Porsche Middle East & Africa introduced the latest edition of the 911 Turbo Cabriolet at the Porsche showroom on Madinah Road yesterday. “It is a car that has been adored as much for its looks and performance as it has for its innovation over the 20 years since it was first released,” Hani Saade, senior marketing executive of Porsche at Saudi Arabian Marketing & Agencies Co. Ltd., told a press conference.
The 911 Turbo Cabriolet is a classic 2+2-seater that offers the exhilarating dynamics of a high-performance sports car while still providing the open-top pleasure of a convertible. “This year, the new model boasts greater fuel economy over its competitors, thanks to its low weight, outstanding aerodynamics and advanced engine technology,” he added.
Like its 911 Turbo Coupe stablemate, a 3.6-litre six-cylinder biturbo ‘Boxer’ engine — which is noted for its balance of power — provides the powerplant. This unit marks the highest level of technology in the world of turbocharged engines, and generates 480 bhp, and maximum torque of 620 Newton-meter between 1,950 and 5,000 rpm. With manual transmission, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 4 seconds; with the Tiptronic S automatic option, the time can be cut to an incredible 3.8 seconds.
