MADINAH, 10 September 2007 — Four Bangladeshi workers suffocated after becoming trapped in a hide-tanning cylinder at the Al-Watani Hide Factory in Madinah.
Another worker, who was also trapped inside, survived the ordeal and is currently undergoing treatment, said a Civil Defense spokesman. “A rescue team was dispatched to the area at 1.12 p.m. after receiving a phone call about the trapped men. Four of the five workers were dead when they were pulled out of the cylinder by the rescue team,” he added.
The 5th man was taken to hospital and is currently undergoing treatment. The Civil Defense has launched an investigation how the men became trapped.
