SHARJAH, 13 September 2007 — Qanat Al-Qasba, the cultural hub and family-leisure destination in Sharjah, announced yesterday it would host a series of Ramadan programs titled “Ramadaniat Al-Qasba.”
Marwan Al-Sarkal, CEO of the Qanat Al-Qasba Development Authority, told journalists that the month-long series of events would feature religious, entertainment and cultural programs every night.
“After the resounding success of Ramadaniat Al-Qasba 2006, we have decided to bring to the public once again this popular event during Ramadan,” said Al-Sarkal. “The event will be spiritual as well as enjoyable.”
One of the attractions this year will be the Fawanees Al-Qasba Tent that will provide an “Arabian Nights” ambiance for families to enjoy iftar and suhoor meals. The Zaman Awal heritage event will showcase the traditional Emirati way of life. The sport of solving riddles will be spotlighted each day with the “Fawazeer Al-Qasba” where prizes will be awarded.
A series of religious lectures by some of the most prominent local and international Islamic scholars will take place along with recitation competitions.
The Fun Zone for children will include a playground and a variety of games and competitions. Paintball and shooting ranges organized in cooperation with Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club will offer activities for young adults to enjoy. A volleyball tournament is planned as well.
Each day’s activities will start at 8.30 p.m. and will continue until 1 a.m. during weekdays. On weekends (Friday and Saturday) events last until 2 a.m.
