RIYADH, 18 September 2007 — The Pakistan Writers Club (PWC) will hold its annual Qur’an recitation contest on Sept. 20.
The event, Husn-e-Qirat competition, will be for boys only. It will be held at Marhaba Hotel-Olaya at 10 p.m. Head of Chancery at Pakistan Embassy Sarfraz Ahmad Khanzada will be the chief guest while Shamshad Siddiqui of Investor Forum will be the guest of honor.
There would be 40 participants divided into two equal groups. Group A will have participants aged between 8 and 12 years while those in Group B would be aged between 13 and 16 years. Students from Pakistan International School-Nasiriyah, Middle East International School, Al-Iqbal International School and Jawahar Al-Riyadh International School will take part in the contest. Some participants would also be from the community.
Each participant will be allotted three to five minutes to recite selected verses from the Qur’an. A panel of three judges will declare winners. Entry to the program will be through invitation only.
