MANAMA, 18 September 2007 — Bahrain needs at least three to four companies to prospect for oil in the newly-opened offshore areas, said Minister of Oil and Gas Affairs and the Oil and Gas Authority Chairman Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza.
Negotiations to import gas from Iran have made great progress with the second round of talks scheduled in Tehran next month, Mirza said.
He added that the Iranian delegation, which visited Bahrain last week, had held successful negotiations with the Bahraini technical committee on importing gas.
Iran’s new Ambassador to Bahrain, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, meanwhile, said that Tehran and Manama are to establish a Blue Ribbon Cooperation Committee.
