The people of Saudi Arabia are proud to celebrate its National Day on Sunday, Sept. 23. Saudi Arabia was established in the year 1932 by the late King Abdul Aziz who had declared and used the Islamic Shariah as the constitution for the Kingdom.
All Kingdom rulers, including the present monarch, King Abdullah, have been dedicating their great and sincere efforts in order to ensure the progress and development of the country in all walks of life.
The country has made tremendous progress in economic, educational and scientific fields.
With the hike in price of oil globally, Saudi Arabia has benefited from this frequent rise in prices and the revenues are invested to promote the country’s overall development. In the educational field, Saudi Arabia also witnessed a comprehensive development.
The private sector followed and flourished with ‘souks’ and ultra-modern shopping malls.
The two holy sites are visited by millions of Muslims every year to perform their religious rites. Saudi Arabia has the honor of hosting the biggest religious event with millions of Muslim guest visitors visiting Makkah and Madinah every year for Umrah. During Haj, the whole world witnesses the greatest example of discipline on earth by the massing of pilgrims in Makkah.
The expansion of the two holy sites and its infrastructures is taking place smoothly and this is being carried out in order to provide best facilities to the pilgrims.
The Kingdom has spent billions of dollars into building of the infrastructure. One can see the remarkable progress that has taken place in every facet of Kingdom.
The impressive improvement at ports, airports, expressways and hospitals are some of the examples in terms of quality and facility.
One cannot ignore one of the most spectacular road construction projects — the King Fahd Causeway, connecting Saudi Arabia with the island of Bahrain. The causeway fosters friendship between the two Gulf states, bringing the two nations closer.
Saudi Arabia possesses some of the finest hospitals in the Middle East, the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and some of the most reputable universities, like the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals in the Eastern Province.
The Kingdom will certainly continue to progress with establishment of more varied projects and vast intermediate industries.
There are 22 million people, including expatriates living in this vast Kingdom.
The expatriate community has been glad to stay and settle in the Kingdom irrespective of caste, creed, language and religion. Many expatriates feel that it is a home away from home — a mini-United Nations.
