LG Saudi Arabia organized its first Iftar party for LG media club members and their families in Dammam. Following the iftar, some club members were honored for their excellent performance this year. Simon Lee, GM, LG Saudi Arabia, presented honorary certifications to them. After the distribution of the honorary certifications, winners of a raffle draw were presented prizes of LG products. Lee said: “It was important for LG to come and launch an LG media club in Dammam and meet with its members and their families. The company thought Ramadan as the best month to do so.” He added: “The idea of establishing the club is to create a permanent state of communication with media members who are considered as essential partners in its success. “ The LG media club was first established in Jeddah last year. After its success, the company decided to have a similar one for the media family in the Eastern Province.

DRIVE COMMUNICATION

Drive Communication, a major communications group in the MENA region, held its second management meeting in Dubai recently. Managing and creative directors from Riyadh, Jeddah, Lebanon, Syria, Algeria, Morocco, Dubai and Istanbul attended the event. The meeting started with Cheriff Tabet, CEO of Drive Communication, announcing various network news and upcoming challenges. Tabet pointed out “...at the end of the day, its all about talent and motivation. The network would not have recorded tremendous year-on-year growth, without the passion and dedication of all our associates across the network.” He added: “Testimony to this growth is the opening of a new office each year, the most recent being our full service office in Turkey. Our growth is a result of the confidence and trust that our clients have put in us for adding value to their business across the Arabian Peninsula. 2008 will be Drive Communication’s 10th anniversary.”

MASTERCARD

MasterCard Worldwide and U21Global on Sunday jointly announced the recipients of the MasterCard-U21Global scholarship program for women in travel and tourism. Twenty women from Asia/Pacific, Middle East & Africa have been offered full scholarships to pursue the executive diploma of business administration from U21Global, an online graduate school. This is the second consecutive year that MasterCard and U21Global are collaborating to offer this scholarship program. The number of applicants for the scholarship program increased by over 50 percent this year with India seeing the highest surge in the number of applicants. Indian women bagged the maximum number of scholarship spots this year with five recipients, followed by four recipients from Korea and three from the Philippines. In addition, 24 women received partial scholarships to the Executive Diploma program. Indian applicants also shone in this category, with half of the partial scholarships being awarded to women from the country, said Dr. Helen Lange, dean, business management programs, U21Global.

Nissan Altima has once again broken another record during this year’s 24-hour endurance drive that took place at the Dubai Autodrome. Organized by the Middle East region’s most popular car portal AutoMiddleEast.com, the event marked another success record that has been set by an unmodified production Nissan Altima sedan under FIA regulations. The Federation Internationale De L’Automobile (FIA) — the governing body for motor sports worldwide — is represented by the Emirates Automobile and Touring Club (EATC) and the event was monitored by EATC officials.
